I was bored over the weekend, and wanting an excuse to not study for finals (studying often doesn't help me much), I began leafing through old papers I've written througout elementary school, middle school, and today. By far I found my elementary school papers the most amusing and funny, for a variety of reasons. One was my honest veiws of work we did and of modern news. For example, one of my haiku's:
"Any moron can
write a haiku. Just stop at
the seventeenth sy "
I was also a bit confused withe the Gore/Bush race, being my first true exposure to a presidential race. I found the following few sentences in an essay in third grade:
"...a third step in becoming presdent is the actual election. The two people running get votes and apparently there's always a big embarressing mess-up. That's the most confusing part of all. Fourthly..."
By far my favorite was a book we made in first grade, "Cooking up some Love", where as a Valentine's Day project we all were told to write a recipie to making a certain food. After successfully copying the ingredients from the Internet for a pizza, I was a little confused about one ingredient. I got through most of them alright (4.Cook in oven at 503 degrees Celsius for 2 and a half minutes), I was left with two extra eggs. What to do? My answer, apparently, came in the from of a 8th step: 8. Crack the two eggs on the pizza and enjoy!
In fourth grade once, we were given a take home-quiz. Unfortunatly for me, I was absent that day, and when I got mine and did it, I checked the answers off another student (my "buddy' partner, the person who worked on quizzes with the other). Well, he told me all my answers were wrong, so I changed them all to be like his, we turned ours in. We failed. Apparently my original answers were 100 percent right. That annoyed me, so I told the teacher of my situation. She saw it my way and agreed to return full points to me if I wrote an adequate poem. That inspired me to write this to my parter as my poem:
I didn't study last night
Now I'm feeling blue
I copied off your paper
And flunked just like you.
Oh, the memories...
