Is there a tendency for intelligent people to think they're stupid, and for stupid people to think they're intelligent? I suspect that there is but would welcome opinions....
Originally posted by @indonesia-philIn my case it wasn't me telling me I was intelligent, it was acing the USAF exams, ALL of them which put me in (which I did not know ATT) an elite squad and took an entire year of technical training in my field, 'Bomb Nav' about a device that was the grandson of the Norton Bombsight but a LOT more complex.

I surprised my CO because I got a bad case of influenza right in the middle of my class and was literally carted off by my classmates and went to hospital for two weeks about a month before graduating but still managed to get 90% on the final.
The squad I was assigned to had Mensa members in it but it never dawned on me ATT that we were anything special.
But of course most folks here, the trolls will say I am just lying to build up my own flagging ego.
