I wrote a post concerning chocolate and lent a little ways backand it
was censored...not posted. It was concerning god and its existence
and if it would really care about the consumption of chocolate or not.
I get back on here and there's nothing but junk, junk, junk.... What
exactly are the rules concerning postings? If it's idiotic, wortheless
junk it apparently can be posted (stevens, stevens, stevens,
stevens). But if it's controversial or thought provoking.......censor
it!!!!! The forums stink because of all those monitoring it. I hope
you're happy having the power to be the mind police....but your lack
of intelligence is reflected in the idiotic posts you allow........
I didn't see or moderate your comment (as far as I remember), so I
can't comment on why that particular post was rejected.
Personally, I try to accept posts unless they are personally abusive or
posted by whoever keeps creating id's just to post stupid comments
(and yes, I have to use my judgement on those, but I do my best to
check joining dates and number of games and the context before
rejecting anything).
I guess if I thought a comment was just there to provoke people, then
I might reject it, but I don't think I have done this yet.
The difference in standards of what gets approved and what doesn't is
inevitable given the number of people doing the moderating, you
either get lucky or not I suppose.
I really dont think anyone was monitoring some of this jonster, so
dont blame the guys doing it, some people here have their posts go
through immediately. Its up to them to be honest and unbiased and
tell the truth and be sensible and not try to cause harm. Its up to
them to try and provoke thought or just to merely try and amuse
without hurting others. If they fail, one cant say its the mind police,
these guys are just busy guys trying to do the best job they can and
still live their day to day lives. blame those putting junk in here,
myself included when in silly moods. not those monitoring the forums.
It's true that there's too much junk. It breathes like fresh early-
morning air if and when there's now and then decent posting. But I
wouldn't like to be the one to 'sift' all incoming rubbish.
Like this style of yours better than when 'you're joining the union'.
On the other hand, why was this guy trying to write on religion here?
I'm sure their are specific sites for that. Must be 1000's of them.
Never visited them, being a convinced atheist. I'm quite happy with
that, but that also isn't a topic suited to RHP and all its members.
The problem is not the amount of "stupid" posts, but the lack of
chess-related posts. I agree that we miss a lot of opportunities to
discuss chess topics, tactics, games, .... I would be more than happy
to participate or contribute.
But that does not mean that we cannot have the other aspects, here
called "stupid", as well. I am one human being, not two parts,
x% "serious"-chess, and 100-x % "stupid" social. So I plan to
participate to both parts. And this was a "serious" one.
