Erm, no, I just don't like that you paired people rated ~1800 with people rated ~1350 in a clan match.

Playing the "devil's advocate" here - could it have happened by mistake?

I once received hugely higher rated opponents to a challenge I had issued (and I told the opposing clan leader the roster from my side when I sent the challenge, and asked for equal opponents - as I always do.). I then sent a rather sarcastic PM to him telling him to "enjoy his points". He wrote back explaining that he'd accidently accepted the challenge with the members given by default - thus resulting with my members facing all his top-guns. I looked at his clan page and saw that indeed, the members involved in the challenge were, in order, the ones that he would have been automatically offered by the system when accepting the challenge. I do think that he was sincere.

Though I have to say that if something like that were to happen to me, I'd be sending an appology for it immediately to the opposing clan leader, to avoid false conclusions.

If admw did it on purpose though to assure points for his clan - and I hope this is not so - then I think he'll soon discover that that tactic is extremely short sighted. No-one wants to play a clan with an unsportsmanlike leader, and I suspect not many want to be a member of such a clan either. A reputation for setting up unfair challenges might soon lead to a lot of difficulty in finding clans to accept challenges. I'm inclined to give people the benefit of the doubt though - and I hope that I'm right, because I have a challenge waiting for admw's acceptance... I guess I'm headed towards finding out for myself. πŸ™‚

He initiated the challenge though, which I accepted assuming that he would use his comparably rated players, whom he controls. Normally, I don't accept challenges if there are heavy hitters in the clan without prior messaging, but I did this time, which could be considered negligence on my part. For this I apologized to my clan.

However, admw sent the challenge and then deliberately put up his highest-rated players, indicating that either he did not look at the Cult roster or he is deliberately taking advantage of the discrepancy. Furthermore, his comments about my perceived fear in the face of his hallenge indicate that this was no mistake. I edited my direct reply to his post as it was [dead accurate and possibly] offensive.

May the righteous forces of Maths crush admw and his silly nationalist clan πŸ˜›!

I do agree that his behaviour in this thread hasn't exactly been exemplary, and he'd be doing his own image a favour by appologizing for the outburst to the "targets". πŸ™‚

Because a clan has made a mistake doesn't mean that all clans are bad...............

Please don't judge the clan feature by a few (very few) aberrations - any serious conflict between clans or their leaders is very rare. I do dare to claim that participating in the clans makes the RHP experience doubly fun! πŸ™‚

Of course, you need a star beside your name first, before the question of whether to join a clan (and which clan!) becomes relevant. If you do buy a membership (and I do heartily recommend it), take a look at my general pep-talk regarding joining a clan:

i realise that i need a star but at the moment it is inappropriate for me to have one as i am doing great without one and am even 129 currently in the map of the month so i can't see any differences that it would have for me having one

Ah, but with a star you can join our clan, the illustrious Cult of Maths 😡.

The most important reason, of course, is that in order to become a Hardcore Pawn Star, you'll first have to be a Pawn Star! πŸ˜‰

Secondary reasons are that with a membership, you'll be able to take part in tournaments and sieges in addition to the clan activities. And of course, the limit of 6 games is lifted - you may have fast moving opponents at the moment, but that may change. Many people slow down if they are loosing, or if the position is very complicated.

Also, members have that pretty star next to their names! 😏

next year i will become a pawn star if the site still exists than....but for now i am happy and i leaving the country in july anyways till next april and will not be able to play for that time so it would be pointless for me to pay for a star and not be able to use it

The site will be here when you are ready... I have no doubts about that. πŸ˜€

i agree! there's too much of it.
some of the stuff in this thread wouldn't even qualify as goading material even if it were in the clan forum.

as a clan leader, i agree that this sort of 'tampering' is definitely not in the spirit of the clans at all.

if the 2 clan leaders and their members accept the adjustments for some reason (and this has happened in the past) - that is one thing. however, when it is done without prior agreement, then it becomes merely a cheap way to score points.

i am pleased to say that it has never happened in any of the clan matches i have participated in.

rather, if a clan leader, hennej (copenhagen) & livinglegend (dutch) come immediately to mind (though there have been others), ever had any doubts as to whether an 'unfair' pairing might occur, i was always contacted.

i think the vast majority of clan leaders do recognize that our role is to create equtable matches for our members and that is one of the things that makes the clan system such an excellent vehicle through which to play here.

For royalchickens and everyone elses information I have a number of things to point out. As a clan leader I try and get all my members clan games high or low. But when challenging royalchicken's clan I don't intend to look at his (or any other clans) members. I just want clan games as I have just recently started my clan.
Lastly I have an Italian member in my clan because I'm half Italian and I would like Italian members in my clan as well, despite the name.

So royalchicken and genius keep your big fat nose out of my business!!!!!😠😠😠😠😠
