What an anti-climax.
Oz played crap and still steamrolled the World XI.
I hope the remaining games will be better. I would love to see the World XI bat first and just let loose.
Maybe the bowling was superb?
But Sehwag, Lara, Kallis and Dravid are legendary batsmen and they didn't get 20 runs between them!
Originally posted by CrowleyYeah, it was disappointing. I guess that's the difference between a team and a collection of individuals. When's the next one?

Cricket is not a team game. It's a team of individuals - that's all.
When you're out there batting it should not matter who else is in the team. Play it ball by ball and make the runs. Easy.
The bowling was good, maybe even very good, but the fielding was crap. When have you seen an international side dropping 3 sitters like that? Let alone the aussie team!
The WXI got chances but for some reason the batsmen seemed to crawl into their shells and defended bad balls and tried to hit the good ones.
Very dissappointing. I hope they do better tomorrow.
Hopefully Polly can win the toss and bat, these guys better make 300+ otherwise I'm not watching anymore.
Originally posted by CrowleyCough, I beg to differ. The World XI looked like a bunch of individuals playing for themselves, their own glory and it didn't count if they were out cheap. They didn't have passion. That's the difference between a team and a bunch of individuals. When Kallis, Lara or Pieterson got out, did it look like they cared much? Hopefully they'll take it more seriously next time.
Bull.

But there were some dodgy umpiring LBW decisions from Taufel. One I thought was going down legside and one definitely over the top.
Originally posted by buffalobillYeah, too bad about those LBW decisions. Not one of the 3 was plum.

Obviously they're not going to have that passion to play for their country etc. but they are professionals and something like that should not make a difference.
I think they're getting too much money. There needs to be more incentive - they should only get paid if they win.
Originally posted by CrowleyA game that promised so much yet fizzled out in the end. What about also dropping Kallis? 11 off 25 or so and involved in two stupid runouts and there could have been a couple more. He looks badly out of form, but of course this is the beginning of his season. In both games the middle order have failed to produce. But wasn't Gilchrist great for Australia? Man, that guy can hit the ball.
Bugger.
The middle order lost that game - Suicidal run-outs...
At least this time there was a game on.
Lara needs to be subbed for someone else he's just not performing.
hey just got back from the match....(world XI supporter)...what a game...we fielded and bowled very average and the ausies took full advantage, especially Gilly.
Suicidal run outs isnt the word, it was absolutely scandelous, Khalis was so poor, he shldnt be in the side, he is the No1 Test batsman not 1 day games............if he didnt decide to run out Sanga the game could have been very different.
Lara hasnt hit any form, the comment of indiviuals playing for their own glory sounds about right, but I think by the test they will pull together......
Subs for next match....Khalis for Nitini (so we have two pace bowlers rather than having to depend on Pollock and Flintoff) and Afridi as Sub if Peiterson is not fit....
THey really need to win the toss as well, batting first would make the difference especially on that pitch...
Spin bowling should be cool as they only have 1 square to play on for all 3 games so hopefully Murali, Gayle, Sehwag and Vietorri can produce for us.
The AUsies brought out their furture star today in Cameron White (off spinner) very debatable, but have to give the fact that it was his debut he must be good as he is Melbourne's captian and he is only 22.
By the way if you are into cricket and looking for a clan have a look at Stickey Wicket we are always looking for new players...

Ugh, I didn't see the game - maybe it was a good thing.
I can't elieve the WXI side played so badly, or did the aussies just play very well?
I just hope the upcoming test match doesn't end like the ODIs.
They should, as they are a great team rather than a collection of great players.
But people are already saying that Australia are in decline, since England beat them and the only other possibilty is that England are a good team. Ha ha. Can't be that - Aussies are in decline.
