Sure-fire absolute formula

Sure-fire absolute formula

General

I keep promising myself that I will get smart, play smarter, and never repeat the same old stupid stunts that I've pulled in the past.

Here we are at a New Year,
It's a time to make resolutions

to be resolute

to be the new person

not one who keeps repeating the same old tire stupid idiotic lame mistakes

I know, I absolutely know that I play too many simultaneous games

My moves are just garbage

all I am doing is pushing buttons

There's no depth of reflection
No seeking the better move
No last chance checking to make sure that i am not leaving a piece en prise or failing to scoop up a hanging piece

no searching for a plan
no seeking a strong square to place a piece
no complex problem solving
and no searches for combinations

No, just see the board, scan the pieces and make a move, any move

why?

Well, I've got my total move count position to hold

I am being chased

once again, as I am about to be overtaken

i do it

I enroll in all of the tournaments

Yes, all of them

the ones where it's impossible to live up to the pace

if you ever look at a position twice

even then, some games will just be timed out

it's impossible

how does that other player do it?

oh well

it's a sure-fire absolute formula . . . . for destroying my rating
and crashing hundreds of points in a lousy series of games

even as I know that I will never be able to keep up the pace

Which is more important? Good chess or an insane amount of chess?

Is more better?

Alas, I am just as stupid in 2017 as I was in 2016, and 2015, and . . . .

Even if you achieved a 2000+ rating your moves will still be garbage, at least from your own perspective. You'd be surprised how little a 2000+ rated player knows and how much crap is played at that level.

"Good chess" will always be out of reach.
