Who does the best Little Wing?
Jimi Hendrix, Steve Vai, or Derek and the Dominos?
Who does the best All Along the Watchtower?
Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, or Dave Matthews?
Who does the best For What It's Worth?
Stephen Stills, Jackson Brown, or Rush?
Hey player42, don't you live in Albuquerque? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else, but I'm pretty sure it's you. I lived there off and on for probably 22 years cummulatively. It will always be 'home' to me.
Why not 420 anymore, if you don't mind me asking? (I mean, I know 'why,' but I mean 'WHY?' Not that it's a bad thing. I'm just curious why people do (or don't do) the things they do (or don't do).)
Originally posted by Bookwormnah-hendrix all the way for thataone. i know dylan wrote it, but hendrix made it his own. i mean-when eric clapton was busy double-recording his guitar, hendrix was busy making a great song greater. would dave mathews have covered it if hendrix hadn't?

but don't forget Stevie Ray Vaughan's great Little Wing
I had the pleasure to see Chris Duarte live at the Borderline in London a few years ago, he was truly amazing and played a stonking "Hear my Train a coming" tribute to Jimi
Yes, I live in Albuquerque. Yes, I stopped my 420-ing. Today is day 19 (not that I'm counting or anything). Had to stop becuase I work in a mental hospital and they have started acting on the threat of random tests. I haven't been tested yet, but I feel like I'm next. I had to make a VERY difficult choice between my carreer and my preferred recreational activities.
Here's my votes:
Watchtower? Although Jimi's is REALLY close, I have to pick Dave. When Dave plays it, it's like a storm gathering. Then again, I've never seen Jimi do it live...
Little Wing? Derek and the Dominos brings out the blues in that song better than anyone, but only with Duane Allman.
For What It's Worth? You know, I used to think that Stephen Stills' version on 4-way street was the best, but the more I listen to Feedback, the more I'm convinced that Rush takes this one.
