That is me! My friends call me 'the big melon'. Why you may ask. Because I have 3 kids and am only 20, so they say that I am just a big melon. That is why I chose this odd screen name yesterday. I have been a member of this site for just over 24 hours. I seem to enjoy it more than pogo, gameknot, gamecolony and all the other web sites I have tried out to play chess out. I find it interesting that this is called 'e-mail based chess'. I was not sure what this term means and I am still not quite sure but I like the thought of not playing live chess. I do not always have a lot of time and that is why I think this web site is more convenient than all the others. I can stop in any time I want and play a few moves and then get on with life. It seems to work out for me better than live. So far I know two people here, Jake2point0 and chow chow. Those are two interesting people. Another thing I like about this web site is that people can play from it all over the world. Example- I live in England and Jake2point0 lives in Canada. I find it intreging that we can play even though we are so far apart. Every one seems nice but I don't know every one. I though that talking here might make me be known by every one. I hope so. I would like some friends and that is the only reason I'm typing all this. There seems to be a lot of adds though but that is okay because all web sites have adds. How to some people have stars with symbols by their name? I asked Jacke2point0 but he said he was new here and didn't know either. Chow chow won't talk to me, but seems nice because at least he is not cursing me out like some people on other web sites do. It is reasons like this that make me have respect for the web site. I like it and hope it likes me.

by the time I posted my response I see Earthboy already answered. Now you have it in both spanish and englishwelcome to the site. some users cannot use the message w/ the move depending on their browsers. I know I am unable to when I use my mac at home. As far as the stars go...you get winged stars and some privelages by subscribing. The non winged stars are the original stars that gave money before official subscriptions started. (although many original stars decided to subscribe and thus grew wings)

Hi there Big Melon, and welcome to the site! 🙂
You get a star beside your name, along with some other perks once you pay the membership fee. Paying members (or "pawn stars" 😛 ) don't have the max 6 concurrent game limit that non-pawn stars have, and once you get a star, you can join clans, as well as tournaments. It's really cheap too - and worth every penny.
I hope you'll enjoy the site as much as I have!

Please do not judge me just because I already have 3 kids. They are not with the same man and I am not married but that is not a crime. No adds for pawn stars, eh? hm. I might join once I can work up enough money. I don't know how long that will be though. I have to take care of my kids you know. That gets pricy. Thank you all for the warm and comforting welcomes. Hey orkyboy. I like this idea of clans. They look interesting. Very intreeging. I will join your clan if I can just get a star. Is anyone willing to sponsor me? If you do, I will join your clan also. Because you can join more than one clan at a time right? If not, then I'll start my own clan and let you join. What should my clan be about? Gr. I am getting ahead of myself. I do not need to worry about my clan name, I need to worry more about finding some one to get me a subscription. Or I could just stay a non pawn star. I will still be happy.
