that's definetly the premier big wave footage to date from the Billabong Odyssey expidition. But there have been at least 3 waves that I know of larger that have been ridden. In fact the year that that footage was recorded somebody else won the billabong award for the largest wave ridden of the year down off the coast of Peru. I've seen a picture but a can't find it on the internet. 60+ foot wave while that Jaws footage is barely 50. There was also a 60+ wave ridden at Todos Santos, a deep water break 100 miles off the coast of California the year before. Some of my boys got to go on that trip because they help with the water rescue training and they got pictures. I'll try scan one in and post a link. There was also a bigger day ridden at Jaws, about 5 years ago but nobody was there recording. Saw it in person. Laird Hamilton dropped in on the biggest wave I've ever seen there...including the day of that video clip because I was there then too.
much to my disappointment I have never be able to catch sight of anything breaking over about 4 meters max and I am a sea fanatic.where you from?
even at the cape of storms during a storm. (sigh)[/b]
I was born and raised on Maui, home of Jaws. It's pretty fricken cool to see those waves in person. You really get a sense of the power and how death defying what those guys are doing really is.

Been looking for the name of the documentary but could not find it.
I believe it be will shown at the Imax, it will be well worth going to see.
Even the documentary is very impressive, there are parts where you can't see the helicopter because it is in the trough of the waves.
Apparently the chopper pilot said he felt like he was flying back in vietnam.
