A thread idea having heard of the death of Felix Baumgartner who I thought was incredibly brave.

I have an aunt who I will call Maggie, she was my mother’s best friend. As children we were taught to address parental friends as aunt or uncle. Auntie Maggie had her 95th birthday last month. She is losing her sight yet still manages to live independently. She nursed her late husband through kidney disease then lost her only adopted daughter to cancer last year. And yet she always manages to smile and tell such interesting stories of her childhood during the war, she never complains and always expresses such gratitude when my sister and I take her out for a drive and lunch every couple of weeks. She has to be the most incredible human. I wish I could be more like her.

Sounds like you Aunt Maggie is a very strong person, @Drewnogal. You are lucky to have her

@Drewnogal

She still enjoys life through her memories and is grateful for every day, that's an amazing quality.

A laudable attempt of encouragement.

A brave person I knew was my mother in law who stood up every day even tough she was consantly in pain.

Those people who, when everyone runs AWAY from danger, run INTO it. IE: Firemen, EMTs, Police et al.
