the clubs were a mistake

first. THIS IS A NICE SITE. i have been here for many years. first as "gengar" and then as "reinfeld"...( and maybe as someone else ? ).

the site has had to try to surive on the net among many competitors.

i think errors have been made in trying to survive.

the GRAND QUESTION ?. why spend money to play chess on this site when there are other sites which also charge fees and several who do not ?

the reason i spent money here is because i enjoyed reading and posting in the general forum ( with the exception of the homosexual, hetrosexual porno and communist postings ..but then i was not given the liberty of being a moderator )..so..

why did i keep spending the money ?

1. admin was tolerant.
2. the posters were ( even those whose content i did not like for themes were still interesting and creative ).
3. the old legacy board was the second best board on the internet.
4. it was a reasonable expense.
5. regular banded tournaments were created.

so now we have gameknot imitation clubs.

so now we have a general forum dominated by just a few ( because there are clubs ).

there is a constant criticism of the clan rankings and no fresh or alternative washout of the clans has been even tried.

the ravine down by the side of the hill. the hill is not political. sludge is created by all but someone want to seem to roll in it and others want to clean it up. some just wnat to create it. this is a human social foible and has nothing to do with political views.

The forums in the GF are "fluff" which are as valid, in a sense, as any Spritual, Science or any of the other "topical" forums.
