I remember being up very, very late to watch it but we did in fact watch the landing. I also remember RFK's assassination, and I really can't remember much else in the way of specific news events from the '60's.

It was quite a treat to be able to stay up; that was very rare for us.

Watching it on a tiny 12-inch screen in glorious black and white, during business hours, in a stuffy firm of solicitors across the hall from my stuffy accountancy practice. Don't know how we got away with it, workplaces were like prisons in those days, but we did. Maybe because the big cheese solicitors were watching it too.

amazing. listen to how cool Neil Armstrong sounds after lift off. you'd never know he was sitting atop a rocket on the way to the moon. i guess that's one reason he was picked for the job.
