Not so long ago, perhaps still, there is the infamous Canadian inferiority complex, which feels that if an artist is foreign, he must be better than than a Canadian, and at one time this was the policy of organizations looking to hire someone. It was not easy for a Canadian to get hired, and work visas were routinely given out to ...[text shortened]... ments still feel arts should be cut, forcing artists onto welfare, thus costing more lost money.
Well tell that to Stan Rogers, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, or Neil Young.

These are some of the exceptions I was referring to. There are just as many, and quite likely more, who had to leave Canada to accomplish these things. The exception would appear to prove the rule, and all my classmates in university are examples of the rule still being valid.

They're awfully nice I find. They also have a better American accent than almost any American I've ever met who wasn't on the news.
And you consider me nice? I've lost count of the number of times I've abused you, called you a drug dealing vagrant and questioned your ancestry.

Are Canadians nothing more than watered down Americans? Was there ever a Canadian culture? Is the 'mosaic' that makes up Canada's small populations reeally just a collection of foreign vistors taking up space? Can you give me 10 examples of true Canadians?
Americanised British and French, more like.

I'm still waiting for my list of 10 quintessential Canadians. I expect reasons for why all Canadians can relate to these people culturally and socially.

I'll tell you why they don't. I don't know everyone on the list without having to look them up. If I, as a Canadian, am completely unfamiliar with some of the people on your list, you've FAILED. They can hardly personify Canada if nobody knows who the hell they are. I'd sooner see Farely Mowat and Wayne Gretzky on your list.

Christ, it's like talking to ATY.
