@very-rusty saidThere can be differences in the distance. At the tee it might say 165 yards, which usually means to the center of the green so if the hole is at the far end of the green it’d actually be longer than 165... so on a really big green it’s possible there could be a 25 yard difference.
I have no idea why the 25 yard distance. If you it a hole in one you may not know exactly how far you are from that hole. Ask Stees he is the Site Golfing Expert here. 🙂

@great-big-stees saidThank you for clearing that up Stees, I only hope seedless Lemon was paying attention.

I like to refer anything golf related to you. What do you think about it, do you agree with the 90 year old man about it being luck 3 times or does there have to be some golf skills involved too?

@great-big-stees saidthat clears a lot up

but you would think the green would be small for such a short hole
thanks Stees
still seems strange to say a hole in one from 75-100 yards
@very-rusty saidBoth are needed, in most cases, but luck is certainly the real factor. My dad played golf till he was about 97-98 years old and he, in all the years he played, only had 1 hole in 1. Most golfers never do manage to do so, so 3 times sure is an anomaly.

@great-big-stees saidYes that is what they are calling it an anomaly. WOW.....Your dad still played until he was 97-98!!!! Not many can say that. Would he do all 9 holes? Don't tell me was doing 18 holes at that age? He must have been in excellent shape! Are you taking after your father?

@very-rusty saidMy dad played 9 holes. To look at him you’d not expect he’d be in the good shape he was in. For the last couple of years he played he’d use a cart but prior to that he’d, like me, walk the course. Enough of this because there are patrons needing looking after. Want a green tea?

@great-big-stees saidI'm very impressed with your Dad, especially walking the course and doing all 9 holes. I bet he taught you a few things. You must have been golfing as a young boy.

@great-big-stees saidThe son of a friend of mine, Magnus, made hole in one on a par 4 hole. It was recognized in the local newspaper.

@torunn saidThis guy from Nova Scotia was recognized on the local news, as well as the paper, and of course it made the internet.
