Great idea.
I would love to eat and drink for free.
Well, though you may not be aware of this, the Tavern has always had “hanging” everything (food and drink) since it’s inception.πŸ€”πŸ˜²πŸ‘

Is this something for the Tavern:
"There is a little coffee shop, where two people arrive and approached the counter.
“Five coffees β˜•οΈplease. Two for us and three hanging.”
They paid, they took their two coffees and left.
I asked the waiter. "What’s this about hanging coffees?"
“Wait and you'll see."
Some more people came in.
Two girls asked for a coff ...[text shortened]... here we live?
Small kindnesses like this can impact so many lives, in ways we could never imagine."
And feeding hungry people is a wonderful thing, Torunn.

Be prepared, however, for the street population to swell.

Although not a particularly “popular” brand at the Tavern, as you well know, we do carry all varieties. Here you go Earl, enjoy. We do carry a beer (red IPA) called Hanging Oak. Care to give it a go?πŸ€”πŸ˜

We can offer Swedish Absolut Vodka, if that is ok with you. It was last time you were here. πŸ™‚

It's called "Paying it forward".

It is popular at Starbucks, for instance, in the US.

Great idea, wonder if it would work in Gothenburg? I could ask, it would have to be a place where people without money dare to go.

My wife and I went into a restaurant and “bumped into” a couple who happened to be a couple I deliver meds to. We chatted a bit and they left. When we had finished our meal I asked for the check and was told that it had been “taken care of”. When next I saw them I thanked them saying they didn’t have to do that to which they responded, “ Just pay it forward”. We did.πŸ‘

Well done. I was thinking of people who can't afford a meal, I will forward the idea - maybe it is already being done?

When it comes to folks who are less fortunate that we are I say, “There but for the grace…” and we contribute what we can.

I remember when Starbucks just started to accommodate the street folk, and it resulted in them getting
used needles on the floor of the restrooms. Oi! It would be tough for me to go into a place likes that.

Anywho...
We can see the good in such programs as "Pay it forward", but can anyone see the harm? I remember we all thought
it was great to accommodate the homeless back in the 1980's. And that good treatment caused the problem
to grow like a mushroom cloud and lead to the homeless crisis we have today.

food for thought
