Game 190987. I was 2 moves away from mate. I was at work playing when my boss walked in my office unannounced, how dare him. I was in the process of making my move. I moved the wrong rook, wanted to move the D rook. Now I don't think I can recover. My question is this. Would you take the win or realize it was a terrible mistake and resign, and ask for a rematch which I would gladly accept. What is the right thing to do?

Personally I would see the game was up and resign. If your opponent doesn't see it, maybe you could play from set position to show him how it would have gone?

Then again I once had somebody claim somebody had made their move for them and it wasn't their fault. But I was so close to winning, I had to carry on.
But I'm not sure what I could have done anyway, there is no way to delete a game after the first 2 moves as far as I know, somebody has to win it.

I don't have this problem.
When at work:I work.
When I come home:I play.
I never mix.It is a cocktail as described:you can make weak moves.
I think you got off lightly, you should have lost your job.
Linda.

I play at work and I also work hard. Chess players make excellent employees. In fact if I were your boss, I would have walked over to you and said, "hey, let me look at that. You've got great position. In fact, so good that I'm going to give you a promotion. Why didn't you tell me you played chess? That's what this outfit needs- more brains! 😉 Kirk

Sorry.
Let him take the move back.
It's only fair.
Isn't it?

This has to be a spoof.
I thought you were winding me up.
I only went along with it because I thought it was tongue-in-cheek.
You won.
Linda.

I'd say to play on and hope he doesnt notice and if he does to keep playing and hope you can out play him.

Ray,

You have the ability to win from there - confidence :o)

I have made some terrible moves against some players on this site and got away with it, I have had people even fail to miss my Queen sitting there waiting to die as I was sitting cringing at the move I had just made.

It just makes the game a little more fun. One thing is for sure, if you resign you will loose the game for sure, if you play on you have a chance

Talking about games in progress is against any form of rules.
We must not give advice or encouraugement about a game in progress.
Lionel you brought this "dilema"to this forum that you should lose 50 points.
Now because you went public, you are compromised.
Linda.

I think you should only discuss this when the game is over and it is not.

I agree! This discussion is unethical and against the rules. Or are there any rules here that are followed?
