i wrote a letter to L&G [legal and genral] they wrote back saying i should contact the agent who sold me product, Barclays, so contacted them who said they only act as agents and the complaint is with the company but i should contact the F O [finanial ombudsman] who wrote back to me saying they have refered the complaint to L&G who then wrote to me saying they have passed it on to Barclays who have wrote to me saying they will contact me. bet they say i should refer the matter to F O

That is why they have referred the case to Barclays to deal with.
There are strict deadlines for them to review and respond - 8 weeks, after which you write again to FO advising them that no response has been received, or you are not happy with the reponse received. Give them (FO) all the details, copies of letters to and from Barclays etc and thereafter you are looking at waiting for a few months for them to investigate further and get back to you.
