there have been many Stigs - there is a "usual" one and they also use others for some specific tasks - such as in this case. I bet there have been a few F1 drivers in that helmet here and there, over the years.

The identity of the usual driver is relatively common knowledge now anyway but they have never wanted to actually admit who it is. I prefer the idea of not knowing for certain. It is a funny idea and some of the myths about him have me hooting with laughter. It is not right to shatter those by letting us know who it is.

Apparently, according to James Mays, it's written into their contracts that for whatever reason if it becomes known who they are they are fired forthwith.
As happened with McCarthy.

I was expecting Second Stig to go away in a spectacular mishap, like the first one. What they did now was not up to par, IYAM. (And no, of course I don't believe that Schumacher is, ever has been, or ever will be teh Stig, except for this episode.)
