This was written by a rig worker in North Sea - he makes a lot of sense!

I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to earn that pay cheque, I work on a rig for a drilling contractor.

I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I have no problem.

What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a benefit cheque because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand that I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sit on their ass drinking beer and smoking dope.

Could you imagine how much money the government would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a benefit cheque?

Now how can we lobby the Government to bring this in? It would create thousands of jobs as well.

We could also exclude people with a high Body Mass Index from getting benefits. If they can afford that much food, they don't need any hand-outs! 😠

I say let them starve a little, just so they can get back into shape.

Erm, working on an oil rig while stoned is quite hazardous, while even extremely impaired people can safely collect benefits. That's why one group is urine-tested and the other isn't.

How much would it cost to give urine tests on every person collecting benefit?

How are you sure it was written by a rig worker in the North Sea?

Do a google search on "Like a lot of folks in this country, I have a job" and this story is bounced all over the place.

Just wondering the original source.

This would cause food prices to go down also.

Less than a couple of quid for the test due to the bulk order.

So 1M unemployed people need to be tested. It's not just the cost of the tube, it's the person who does the test that costs the money...Not a bad idea though. 🙂

Workers pay into an unemployment fund. It's not gov't money. At least in the US
