There are many websites that describe the theory and technology of tapping unlimited free energy from vacuum.. Is it a hoax or has anyone really manufactured and marketed a free-energy-device so far? It is said to be a top secret technology, employed by the aliens in UFO's to navigate inter-stellar and inter-galactic distances..It is also said that some govts are working on it and have even developed some anti-gravity devices like the Searl's disc. In one program shown on Discovery channel a few anti-gravity experiments too were demonstrated.
What is the truth.

All I can think of is that the difference between the pressure of a vacuum and atmospheric pressure could be used to generate energy. I cannot see it working though, because the energy required to create a vacuum would excede the energy that could be released from it. This being due to resitive forces and friction.
I have also been 'informed' of a system that uses water. Apparently, water is split into hydrogen and oxygen which is then burnt as fuel. I cannot see this idea possibly working either, as due to enthalpy, the same amount of enrgy is required to break the chemical bonds as would be created from combining the atoms again. Pish posh I say!

I seem to recall from quantum physics lectures, that photon pairs spontaneously pop into existence, then recombine all the time - because they are short lived, no conservation of energy laws are broken.
But that it is possible to capture one of these photons, thus ensuring the other also survives.
Hazy memory - more than 10 years ago since I studied this.
Originally posted by belgianfreakI don't think so. I think it's the ground state of the quantum harmonic oscillator, and it's supposed to be closely related to the cosmological constant, but I don't really know that much about it either.
