My opinion is, it sounds like a lot of English (read "British" ) rah-rah-rah to me. And whining about how the "natives" they "liberated" don't appreciate them.

You've got your Kipling, we've got our Twain and Sinclair. None of whom has ideas that would be popular if written today.
