😛Recently I went to the victorian Chess open and i played a couple of games against rapid rated 2132 and he fell for somethin a 5 year old will fall for. I reckon these people should learn how to play before they enter statewide competitions.

A complete mockery

Why is this in both general and only chess?

That's a good question! I'd also like to know:

1. Who the hell uses reckon in a sentence?
2. What state if this is a statewide competition?
3. What did they fall for that your average 5-year-old wouldn't?

You know I reckon you might be right. Although when I reckon I often reckon wrong. What do you reckon?

Just because you are good at something doesn't mean you can't fall for easy tricks. If everyone you played against used that trick, then you would be used to it and counter it, as you move up, less people would try it.

Pretty silly to not notice that though, but they must have been pretty good in other games to get so far.

Surely if they are rated at 2132 then they can play?
I presume they were human - humans can and do make mistakes.

The real question is what the guy scored overall. I'm 2150-odd, and I lost to someone rated around 1400 last week. Can happen.

People can and do goof when time pressure happens. People can also just play a bad game. I tried to capture inpassing from f6 this last year. In was a really stupid plan that cost me a bishop and the game. One time Fischer was toying with his King's Rook pawn while he was studying the game he was playing. Oops. Touch move. White Unzicker Black Fischer Round 11 Buenos Aires 1960 .

Should someone tell Devinator3000 not to mention the fact that he's 11 in his profile?

Or should we keep it a secret so the Powers That Be don't find out?

Or are people under 13 allowed on the site now?
