    "They"

Who are "they" and "them"? Whatever happened to "we" and "us"?

Who else would we talk about, if not them? They talk about us, so we are all together, really.

Doing so suggests and promotes an adversarial mindset which may not always be warranted.

"They" is plural and therefore preceded by "are" rather than "is".

    How about:
Who else would we talk TO, if not them? They talk TO us, so we are all together, really.

That's why we can't hear a thing - everybody is talking to everybody... 🙂

    ... or 'are'... ?

Steve, do you usually think of your family members and close friends online
and offline as "those people" or "them" or with the possessive "my"... ?

If the truth be known GB I don't often think of them period. I'm egocentric.

P.S. My first thought during breakfast was "who or what is they" to convey the impersonal tone of "they" and "them".
Nah, realized doing so tried too hard. Awhile later, when I decided to start a thread and post its first sentence the "what" was dropped but failed to pluralize the intransitive verb "is"... beginning to sound like President Clinton. lol

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know you well enough to know your dear family is continually on your mind. You Canadians are loving people. Too bad you all sprinkle so many "buts" in your sentences; guess maybe some of you love "buts" too. lol
