at 39. Fitness isn't everything, it seems.

That is probably because you're not in SHAPE!
If you ever happen to come to my neck of the woods I'd be happy to take through one of my work outs...Think you can keep up?? Odds are I have some years on you to boot!
People Hire Trainers to ensure they are doing the exercises properly. Professional athletes have trainers, but yet you can't see WHY people get them...Perhaps you have much to learn! Or everyone else is wrong & you're right! 😛

Au contraire I'm in good shape (self discipline).

I'll make sure when I'm "down your way" that I take you up on that. As for the years you've got on me. I doubt it.

A professional athlete is just that, a professional, and for them it makes sense as their livelyhood depends on them being it the "best" shape.

Perhaps, that isn't important to you.
I am pretty sure I have years on you, but it doesn't matter you will not be able to keep on unless you work-out as hard as I do 3 times per week...4 times on the "Burn Phase"!
BTW: Do you know what a "Burn Phase" is? I'll be quite impressed if you can tell me in your own words without googling it! 😉

I've seen some golfers who could use a personal trainer.
You might do ok on the skies at the Fitness center, or has 40 years taken its toll on you. So, you been golfing since you were 2?
So, being you're in such great shape or claim to be, how long does it take you to walk 1 mile? I don't mean a slow stroll on the golf course, I mean a good brisk walk!
