Do you think I could use the tobacco patch to build up levels
of nicotine before I start smoking so I can ease my way into it?

why in hell would you want to start smoking.

Some numbers I pulled off the web:
For every 1000 20-year-old smokers it is estimated that while one will be murdered and six will die in motor accidents, 250 will die in middle age from smoking, and 250 will die in older age from smoking

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at the end of the 20th century, diseases directly related to smoking were responsible for some 440,000 premature deaths a year in the U.S., or nearly one in five of all U.S. deaths.

i started smoking a year ago next week. my gf pissed me off, and on a whim went to the store and bought a pack of marlboro. throught hurt for a few days, then all was well. back then, i smoked a whole pack in about 4 days. now i smoke a whole pack in 1. gets very expensive... don't start. plus, its bad for you. on the plus side, it goes well with coffee, driving, talking and other choice things as well.

is it just me, or was he joking?

oh, and don't smoke. my grandpa's had cronic lung disease for the last 20 odd years (he quit a good 30 to 40 years ago...) and is currently in hotspital thanks to it. he can't walk 2 steps without being out of breath. don't smoke. it'll be the death of you...

I used to smoke socially (only on weekends in the pub or night club) when I was younger.
However, I never really figured out what the point of it was.
1. It might look cool (debatable).
2. It isn't pleasurable (or is it? I certainly didn't notice anything).
3. Er...that's it.

my dad got acupuncture, a staple in each ear, and said it was amazing, he didn't feel like smoking at all (after smoking for 50 years). cost $400 tho πŸ™ .

What was the significance of the staples in the ears?
Did they stick out too much, causing your dad to smoke to relieve the misery?
How can having staples in your ears stop you smoking?
