Just a fair warning to anyone who is thinking of accepting a game with Time Bandit...

He is extremely volatile and will ridicule you for taking more than 3 minutes to move. This site is supposed to be set up to make moves at your own pace. I started a game with him where he moved first, then I moved then 5 minutes later the game was canceled and I got an extremely abusive message from him! I am fine with playing games with no time bank and 1 day per move as long as the other person can accept that too. Playing chess takes a lot of patience and this guy has none! If you choose to accept a game offer from him, do it at your own risk! You've been forwarned!!!!

I got the exact same experience as you did.

I tried to send him a reply that if he doesn't like the pase that he can always try a live chess website like www.flyordie.com or www.zone.com which ever suits his facy but I got put on ignore so its sad really but I for one wont loose any sleep over it.

Me neither. I just want to warn people when some one is such a jerk like that! Thanks for the post to show that I'm not the only one that has dealt with it.

So two people have had exactly the same experience with this dude and happened to cross each other's paths within two minutes in the General Forum? That's amazing. Just ***king amazing.

It's not amazing at all.

People read the forums and if something rings with them, they reply. If it happens regularly with the same two it would be a hint for a pattern.

EDIT: I wonder if this thread will live long, since it could be seen a s a 3c) offense...

Why just not put him int your ignore list while the game is going, and he cannot give you any messages at all?
This is one reason the ignore list is there.

I do that to abusive opponents. Works fine!

Just wanted to say that I've played two games against Time Bandit and I never had a problem with him. During the first game he send me a message that said "I've never had this sort of set-up before; rather unique and troublesome." which I took as a compliment.

Maybe he just had a bad day or has been loosing a lot.

If you read the OP fully, you will see that the game was deleted within 3 moves.

Totally agree.

One plonker I am playing is even refusing to take the timeout win, despite me advising him I will not be moving again in our game due to an abusive message received from him.

from time bandit's profile...

"I play chess to have fun and could care less about ratings. I've been known to resign earlier than my opponents feel necessary however I reserve the right to resign if I have made a really stupid mistake that could end up costing me the game anyway. I will claim skull wins so please make your moves according to the settings of our game(s). Please refrain from wasted moves and checks. I will play anyone no matter your rating. I have beaten players in their 1800's however I'm having to work on consistency. Please, if you claim one of my open invite games, make more than one move before leaving. I will delete our game if you move once and then leave. Good luck on our game(s)!"

it seems to me the advice in bold is fairly straightforward...

he likes to play fast,
and not pause fer tea...
time to move on, and,
not take it personally...

Sure have, its in my Clan lost games along with the message in the Notebook

DON'T MOVE IN GAME LET HIM GET TIMEOUT WIN

Game 7444679

What is even more galling for him is the next move was checkmate for him as well.

The last move in the games was way back on 5 July.
