This is a horrible thing. I don't get used to it. I just get more angry.

My apologies: I made a bad joke, thinking you were joking about the affliction.
I don't know that I have the resources to prosper under that burden.
I wish you better.

Supposedly they can play sounds to you to lessen it's affects.

Someone told me high bloodpressure is one of the causes of this.
Check it with a doctor, maybe that's it?

I sell my blood. They check everything. I got good stats.

Did you go through a period of your life listening to loud music?

So it doesn't work then?

Don't say I peddle just cause I googled an example of what I was talking about.

Angry enough to see a doctor?

If you went to a doctor you could ask him/her about sound therapy.

It may in general be an old age thing that accompanies hearing loss associated with those aged 50+ who live their lives in a noisier environment turning up tv, radio their own voice and expectations of others causing damaged to the ear.

Maybe I don't have it as bad as you, but I find that if I ignore it I don't hear it. If you can, try to not think about it. It works for me.

Since reading this thread it has come back into my awareness. I can identify 4 or 5 frequencies pealing away. Ambient sounds seem to drown it out. Quite here early in the morning, so it's there now.

I attribute the condition to exposure to B52 bombers in my youth. 30% hearing loss at certain decibels.

apathist,

Indeed it is a horrible thing. I find that having music, or even a t.v. on helps cut down on the ringing. Sometimes it is worse than others, this is something I've dealt with for years. Didn't realize so many have this affliction.

Yes. The doctors are pretty quite about this.
