To be false or true: that is the question.
False friends imply or tell you you're never wrong. Put you to sleep with flattery. Tempt you to run from the light. Seek your approval. Curry favor. Insult you by subtlly building you up as if you were some needy humpty dumpty... and are devious enough to eventually turn on you and tear you down. True friends respect you for defining yourself and laugh at others trying to do so for you. They enjoy the reciprocal freedom of timely comments regarding rough edges in your chess play, play of mind, opinions and deeds without the least fear of vindictive reaction. True friends know you know the truth of the ancient proverb, "Faithful are the wounds of a friend". Many false friends. True friends you can count on the fingers of one hand. Your thoughts?
