Schliemann,
I'd like to join the US team for the tournament. Is there any room?

I know you addressed your question to Dave, but I thought I'd butt in-
- I'm afraid the tourney has already started, several games are
already finished. But I understand that, after the positive response to
this one, there will be another.

Thanks for hopping in on that for me...yes the tourney has
closed...but we have a new schedule in mind for next one...with alot
more notice..alot more publicity...hopefully alot more players.

The response we got was pretty good and the fun we are having with it
is even better. And I predict the next to be alot more fun than this
one.

So...always keep an eye on the forums...and I will give Russ alot
more notice on the starting date so we can have a bigger turnout.

I think I see a trend going here Gil...are you up for it?

Hope I wasn't stepping on your toes there, Dave... While I'm here, I'll
cast a vote for another tourney, this is fun (despite my lackluster
performance so far...)

Absolutely not!! This kind of enthusiasm makes me feel like I am
actually doing something good around here besides just running my
mouth.

I am holding on our game for a sec...sent a meesage to Russ with a
question in which I might be able to step the "School of Dave" or
the "Schliemann Chess Classes" up a notch. Waiting on his reply.

If so I might be able to do alot more than just the basic advice and
stuff I have been doing....I will go back to what I used to do in Private
lessons.

Interesting?

I don't want to be presumptious, but there are other great teachers
out there. Got a recent lesson from T1000 who was very gracious in
talking me through an opening. What I have found is playing
someone for several games and , in my case, many losses, may be a
good way to find a good tutor. All you have to do is ask and all they
can say is "no." And I have yet to have that happen. Kirk

Kirk,
T10000, Mark is a great guy. I should know our resord is 2-18 his
favor.

Be that as it may John but its the tounament games when it really
counts and you're more than holding your own against me there!
You've got me quite quite worried!

Mark,
Awhile back I mentioned that if you take or accept a title you
need to keep using it. Have you noticed, I've taken two aspirins and
and hoping not to see you in my knightmares tonight.

That was the first time that I (rather indulgently) wrote a title and as
you, the Great High Lord of Titles decrees, I shall use it in the future.

Sounds good-- keep me posted! And it's YOUR enthusiasm that is
infectious-- a good deal of the credit for the coolness of this board
belongs to you, and a number of others-- you all know who you are, I
hope!

Dave,
The tournament is fun. My prioe chess classes are starting to kick
in again. It's more fun to know what to look for than to grope for a
next move. Goodness may hands get sore at time. Then occasionally,
I go bonkers and just make moves every 15 seconds and my oponent
does not get a very good match. I say respect your opponent and give
them your best.
