Good book != Good film

Personally I loved both the book and the film. The film is different yes and there are some things I would have loved to see in it that weren't. But I can't see anyone doing a better job on the translation.
For the people who just wanted the book filmed page by page, imagine a 1 hour Council of Elrond scene. It wouldn't have worked.

Kate Winslet? Not sure she'd be right as she is too down to earth and human, but she is motherly and desirable.
