I remember watching this film back in 1997 and thinking it was the Bond franchise losing the plot. So a power-crazy mega-rich eccentric owns the biggest world media channel and uses it to try and control the world?

PAH! ridiculous! stuff for the tweeting birds.

I think you have to change your UTC offset manually under Settings > Site Settings.

Saving $100 per day, how long would it take to save the 44,000,000,000 that His Elongated Muskyness paid for Twitter?

Answer: over 30,000 years.

Not everyone realizes Ian Fleming penned the first lines of his James Bond novels nearly 80 years ago. Bond is product of the cold war era that ended in the early 90's when the Soviet Union collapsed. Creating new villains to replace the old one is no easy task. Frankly, I'm surprised it lasted this long.

What’s all this got to do with the acquisition of Twitter?

People don't go to see a James Bond movie for a history lesson in post cold war diplomacy.
They go to see Roger Moore acting by moving his eyebrows.
