Talked with him on the phone, as have a few people from here.
His opening knowledge and theory and also his memorization of famous games and all was pretty dang convincing for me.
If he was that good of a B.S. artist as all of you say the guy would have a job in Washington.
Alot of people know there were other reasons. If I am not mstaken he said ...[text shortened]... orum ban so 3c was not an option, 3b was the only way to get rid of the guy.
Simple as that.
When looked up (he gave dates, places, and names) it turned out he was really rated near 1000, not 2200.
WHY?
WHY!?

It would be the same as a 3rd chair saxophone player transfering to a new school and telling the band teacher he was a 1st chair player. After that alot of practice can do anything.
All that is moot, you didn't bring anything up about the 3a thing now did you? It is a simple fact that after the guy got back alot of people went after him to ban him. And eventually they did, but of course not fairly.
Originally posted by CartersonNo. It's more like someone playing kazoo saying he plays sax. You're a higher rated player than them.

It is nothing like what you say. There is no comparing a 1000 rated player to a National Master.
It's like saying the Yankees want to interview you when you play softball in the town park.
3a? I don't care about that. He came back under a new name and that is fine so long as you don't use the old name.
The banning was fair also, you are ignoring all the facts... and stretching to defend a verified cheat.

Once again great logic, Vince Papali never made the Eagles. There is no such thing as open tryouts is there?
He lied by saying it was official USCF rating. That does not mean that after years of club play and internet play he did not achieve that rating.
Edit: And you didn't care about the 3a, so you are the only person who has power here? I said ALOT of people were screaming for that he banned on that position alone, you know it and I know it, I have gone back and read the posts. Like i said that was the first way people tried to get rid of him, and that happened barely a week after he returned.

He claimed he was a "National Master"; you don't get that from a club rating. Stop the lies.

Like how you are a C-player with a ton higher rating on here.
How you can manage to turn oxygen into carbon dioxide without a set of instructions is beyond me.

He not only claimed to be a "National Master"; he claimed he achieved that rating at a specific tournament - the New York Open 1998. And he did play there. In the U1600, he went 4.5 out of 9 and his rating shot up to 1183 from 1082. That's still a bit short of 2200, ain't it?
