Trev33 recently answered a question from Yo Its Me in her 'Life Notes' general forum thread, "Anyway what's your definition of 'spam'? I consider it to be where a person has made a thread with little or no content...",
with... "constant non-sinceical gibberish is what I consider spam." The Free Dictionary defines 'nonsensical' as "1. Lacking intelligible meaning; 2. Foolish; absurd; nonsensical ideas."
What's your understanding of the general internet meaning of 'spam' as well as its RHP site specific applied meaning? By the way, please give the unpopular notion of 'posting on topic' a good old college try. Thanks.
😀

Strictly speaking, spam is electronic junk mail or unsolicited email advertising a service or product.
Let me tell you about Shrimp. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich.
There are several ways to spam. Just a few more examples would be starting several threads, and bumping them if no one participates. Making threads for little purpose more than to create a new thread. Turning a private exchange between two users into a new thread treating the forums like a private message board.
There are many more ways to spam.
