i think society has forced us to like risk better than chess, everything is fast, convenient and because of tv and the internet we don't think for ourselves.

chess, its slow and you have to think about every move, risk is much faster, less thought involved but with the same competitive nature, actually i think risk is more competitive.

I'm better at Risk, and there's the thrill of taking over the world. There are also smaller victories -- when you eliminate one of the players, so even if you don't win the game there are smaller wins or reinforcers. I understand Risk. But my brain misses a lot of moves in chess. I just can't see ahead more than one or two moves.

i'm the same, risk feel a lot easier, but the luck factor is annoying, chess will always have that over risk.

You guys should try warhammer - there is a luck element there too but since many dice are rolled during a battle, the better strategist tends to come out on top as you can influence the dice in your favour by planning out your moves well.
