The book was written mid 60's hippies were flooding europe. demanding change, political, social. He says the roots of their wanting change is over crowding. When they get old enough to retire they will be fundamentally opposed to the changes they once wanted.
You can also read it yourself the book is less than 200 pages and reads fast. I recomand Jonses books for those interested in adventure/social comentary.

His books are about adventures like setting the sailing elevation records, and solo laditudinal records. His adventures take place when you could still get lost in the world.
