What do you guys (gals) think about finding true love on the internet? I don't believe in it at all but I want to know what every one else thinks. After you answer this question, say whether you are married or single. If you are single, do you have a girl/boy friend? I am curious to see what the majority of married and single men/woman think. I find this to be a very interesting study. So answer if you want but if you feel uncomfortable then just move on to the next thread π. Cheers.

I guess if the bond built on conversation is strong enough, other things wouldn't matter as much, if the two people were completely honest. I, myself, am unsure.

Interesting Subject!
I met my wife in a internet chat room. I'd not long split from my long term fiancee and had some spare time on my hands, so whilst surfing one night I came across the Capital Radio notice boards and chat rooms and I just happened to ask someones asl, they replied 25/f/Birmingham, we started a conversation and it went from there. 7 months of web chat, emails, then a couple of weeks of phone conversations, we eventually decided to meet in person and married a year to the day we met in person. We have now been married just over 3 years and have 6 month old twins. So I guess im in the pro corner.
During my long nights in the chat rooms, yes I came across a lot of weirdo's and was even stalked by someone I met on the net, but hidden amonst the looney toons, you never know, you just might meet the person of your dreams.

I think we would need to define "true" love more closely, but by my usual definition of it I suppose it's certainly possible. I don't consider true love an emotion. The emotions are the icing on the cake! True love is a decision and it's something done, not felt. The most important ingredient in love is commitment. I knew my wife for less than two months before we got married. Everyone was sure we wouldn't last. We're now two kids and almost six years into our very happy and successful marriage. To get to the point, it was commitment: "for richer and poorer, in sickness and health, in good times and bad," or whatever they say. So I'm sure if two people were truly committed to each other after meeting on the Internet it's definitely possible. I cannot end my post, however, without advising that I was extremely lucky and anyone who wants to commit to someone over the Internet, or to someone they've only known for a matter of weeks, you probably should follow the conventional wisdom and get to know the person for a longer period before taking any leaps.

I'm single and I want to keep it that way.But I see no reason why you couldn't find someone to share your life with on the internet.I mean, what's the difference?Eventually you will have to meet in person and go from there anyway.Your chances might even be better 'cause you already kinda know each other.
