i don't watch much tv, i am pleased to say, but it seems to me that i am watching even less than i figure i used to. a series like enterprise seems to start some time in late october, give 5 shows, then repeat the same, then after the christmas break, there are another 5, these get repeated, then there might be a couple of more and in comes the season finale and the summer is filled with reruns.

i seem to recall that in the 60s - 90s, you pretty well got a full season of episodes without the repeats. i'm pretty sure of this, but don't really remember.

is this true?

Yeah, TV really sucks nowadays. I only watch the Simpsons, South Park, and on occasion, the Friday Night Movie. If I'm desperate that is. Under Siege Friday? Puh-leese!

I think the original Star Trek put about 32 episodes on per year... I didn't even realize I was watching re-runs in the mid 70's.

Another thing about modern TV I don't like is how they run a show every Thursday or Monday.... and next thing you know there is a "Special Episode" on Wednesday or Sunday....

Makes it hard to keep track of when your show is unless you watch all the tv in the world to find a comercial for your favorite show on a "Special Night".

Here are some shows I might watch... if I'm not here at RHP.

Survivor (Never miss an episode)
Fear Factor (Miss an episode now and then)
Scrubs (watch it now and then)
Malcom in the Middle (watch it now and then)
Arested Developement (watch it now and then)
Simpsons (It's on ALL THE TIME)
Futurama (I miss this cuz it is usually replaced with sports on Fox)
South Park (catch it when I remember to)
Adult Swim (I don't even know the shows, just started watching)
Man Show (Juggies!)
Anything on History Channel or Discovery
Anything on Sci Fi or Commedy Central

thanks both of you. i didn't think it was my imagination.

well i like our scifi channel, but it gets a bit much to watch startrek (whatever) or stargate reruns for the 5th time, though i do admit that some of those episodes are worth it.

enterprise started out really well i thought, but they'd destroyed t'pal's character and archer has joined dillion hunt as the newly-styled 'comic' captain.

still i think one of the best lines ever came from andromeda when tir said something like 'at the end of the universe, i will be certain of 3 things. there will be tir anasazy(?), cockroaches and dillon hunt trying to save the cockroaches.'

Don't watch Andramada much... seen perhaps 3 episodes. Seems all right but I just haven’t made room for it.

Cpt. Archer is a Joke! He is wrecking the show. "Oh, come on! Where's your sense of adventure! Lets go down to the planet and who cares what happens!!!" I think they made "The Prime Directive" because of screwballs like archer.

TV's ok now and then, but so much is lame. I can't stand to watch TV with the "wife" because she's always watching shows like

Anna Nicole
The Ozborns
and whatever show has young millionaires spending money and showing the world how little they actually know.

"Chicken of the sea, by the sea, near the sea? And it's Tuna? It's all so confusing!!"

How cute... someone with more money than God and they have an IQ of 68.

Geesh!

3 episodes are probably alright, but we couldn't handle 3 seasons. things got pretty bizzare, imo

After I got my computer I ditched the cable TV and don't watch the regular stuff. It mostly bites. Spend alot of time outside. I guess I am not a responsible tv viewer.😞

Same here. I don't think I've actually watched in 3 weeks. I suppose I have serious unpaid obligations to my culture 😕.

T.V. Sucks. I recently moved into an apartment by myself and have no t.v., I've always shared with roommates. I don't miss it a bit. The only shows I watch are Thursday nights NBC- ER, Friends, Will and Grace, and Scrubs. I record those shows while I am at work and watch them later. That's my t.v. fix, all I need.

P.S. Reality shows have ruined t.v. I can't stand them, they are so retarded!

WOW!! You lived through the seventies and watched Star Trek, without being beaten up by people who thought you were a nerd?

I watch a lot of TV at home; I watch almost none at all at college (maybe an hour or two per term.) I wonder why? 😕

the concept was creative, ideas revolutionary, and some of the episodes simply outstanding!!
picard's management style has even been written up as a 'business book' called 'make it so'

LOL, that's funny! I wonder if it's a popular book. Picard is hands down the best captain out of all of them in my opinion. With Kirk coming in second.

agree on picard though janeway has noble moments where she matches him (eg the void).

kirk is good in some episodes (eg doomsday machine), but i feel the acting antics back then were really comical. what was good though was the way he transformed from the earlier episodes as a closed minded 'bigot' to a relatively enlightened individual. it was definitely interesting to watch. he was easily at his best though in the star trek movies (particular #4 - one of my favorites of all time). roddenberry had the social 'freedom' in the 80s to turn startrek into what he really wanted without being cramped by tv producers who were worried the refreshing attitudes would overturn society and bring ratings down 😀
