Why? ----------------------------------------------------------- Why Not?
Some men see things as they are and ask "Why?"
I dream things that never were and ask "Why not?"

“You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, 'Why not?'”

Oooh, but "what if" is actually my favorite question!
One more pass... 'What If' is probably the rightful younger sister or brother to 'Why Not'.

Thanks, Red. Always wondered who RFK quoted.

What if we'd just add it?

Bobby used his version of this quote many times in his speeches, always giving credit to Shaw.

(Edit: That's RFK, not Grampy.)

Hey, Duecer, here's what the darn thing looks like from my peep hole in the woods:

#1. In living color... 'WHY' = red, 'WHAT IF' = yellow, 'WHY NOT' = green.

#2. In terms of motion... stalled in traffic, 5 MPH, pedal to the metal on the open road.

#3. Your 'WHAT FOR' seems to want to fit in a different category, more of a value
judgement or practical decision. You know, caveman goes to his friends one sunny
afternoon and says, "Hey, guys just invented the wheel. Take a look at this beauty.
Now what in the world can we do with it? What the heck would this thing be good for?"

#4. In early school years we were taught that 'Necessity is the mother of invention'
and accepted it as gospel truth, too innocent to bother to ask who the father might be.
Probably accurate in some cases but not at all the way the world works in many others.
Put it this way. You show me an advanced computer technology and an enormous internet
and two inventive capitalists and a bunch of bright folks with more time than money...
and I'll show you an RHP General Forum.

P.S. Before the lobotomy (when Epic took over duties) probably would
have been tempted to type, 'Gradual accretion on a simple base'.
