stann decision, leben's just got too thick skull to be knocked out
vera submission 2nd
diaz, decision, although this will be a close one I think.
gomi, unanimous decision. he'll dominate but can't finish guida.
no idea of the other guy in the rest of the fights. hard to imagine brown gets any difficulties, but I have no idea who diego nunes is. what the hell is brown doing in the prelims anyway??
I think Edgar to, his movement is so good.
Leben by ko
Silva v Vera is difficult, im gonna go with Vera ko
Diaz by Sub
Guida by decision
Stephens by decision
I can only think Brown is in the prelims because the UFC have just purchased the WEC and are now putting on 135lb and 145lb fights, not the best reason but could be that.
Phil Baroni is due a win in the UFC too?
Originally posted by brit commandoyeah, baroni hasn't done well in ages. it's always the same thing though, crap conditioning. it's like he doesn't get that game has changed since he was a young muscle montrosity and could KO inexperienced people in the 1st. most people lose once because of the conditioning, and get on the treadmill and work it out. but for some reason these body builder looking guys always have the same problem. explosive for first 2 minutes, then they're done.

sure leben can KO anyone if he just gets that one good punch in. I don't think he'll get it against stann though, stann is so much better at everything except power. still, leben is ridiculously tough, and it's always a small miracle if someone can put him to sleep. he might lose a lot, but he never goes down.
I would give diaz the win against most people, but the korean guy is very underrated. as all asian fighters in u.s. seem to be -like gomi, who's a legendary crusher but hasn't really shown it in the states yet.
You are of the same opinion as me with Baroni, i'll give him one thing he never gives up. Gomi's ko of Griffin was awesome and i dont think Griffin had been ko'd before. Leben is hard, my wife and i watched him in Birmingham against Michael Bisping and he took some shots but then Bis aint really known for his power more his cardio. You used to show a German flag on your profile, do you live there as there has been a couple UFC's there, i had tickets for the one in Cologne but then had to go away with the army so had to sell em. Anyway lets hope for a good card with plenty of action, im in Afghan right now so will have to check results on the web. Cheers Robbie

Originally posted by brit commandojust watched the main card last night. great win for guida, gomi just couldn't cope with his crazy unorthodox movement. I bet he thought guida would gas, but that wasn't in the cards (and never will be). I can't believe that he didn't kick guida in the head though, when guida ducked repeatedly over and over and over again.
Some good results, did you watch it? I only managed to read the live feed on mmajunkie.com
Cant beleive Leben was stopped
stann, I was actually thinking of someone else! 😀 had I remembered he was that guy I would've predicted ko in 1st! monster puncher. getting quite technical as well.
thiago looked scary strong from the beginning, I've never seen him that big before! you could actually see the bull-like power in thiago's punches, much like brocks early round rhino-like explosive strength. and vera's nose was a testament to that power. but still, vera did good standing up though, I think he would've won a striking match. but thiago just wrestled too strong (I've never been impressed of his bj, black belt or not), and vera's grappling was so passive he had no chance from the bottom.
I'll never understand why everybody isn't either doing the aggressive nate diaz kinda 'defensive' bj, or simply standing up like liddell no matter how many punches you eat. there were many points where I'm sure vera could've just stood up, clinch a bit and push away. but if you stay down, and are passive at it, it's all over. a lot of the traditional bj guys have a bad habit of doing just that, but the days of royce gracie aren't ever coming back.
the diaz fight went pretty much like I thought. (I actually meant to write kim wins in my original pick, which is obvious from my later post, but I guess I was tired somehow wrote the wrong name...)
edgar, what an amazing comeback! it was probably better for him that he couldn't remember the 1st round starting the 2nd! 😀 all it took was one lucky ko punch, then he just somehow amazingly staggered through the following 2 or 3 ko's. not unlike leben, but where as leben's legwork stopped when dazed edgar just kept running and scrambling purely on instinct. I was so sure it was over many times, but he just kept coming back even if he could hardly stand on his wobbly legs! now that's TUFF!~ 🙂
haven't seen the prelims yet.
great event, I wasn't expecting that interesting and dramatic fights.
