US AND THEM
---------------
In London, streets are paved with gold
Up North we've cobbles - hard and cold
We scrape for coppers down at t'mill
While London folk just spend at will
They use plastic, we have brass
We really have to make things last
Our clothes are ripped by honest wear
Their jeans just sport designer tears
They've mobile phones - we've cans and string
We shout, 'Hey mate!' - they download rings
They've gadgets that are all new fangled
Hi-tech to us? - a tea-bag mangle
They wear posh trainers, we wear clogs
We race whippets, they show dogs
They're really into brands and hype
While we just want to buy good tripe
They eat sushi, we eat kippers
We drink pints, they're cocktail sippers
They've Eastenders, we've got Coro
We save our brass, they love to borrow
Houses cost so much down there
For them we ought to shed a tear
For one, they pay - oh what a pity
More than we'd pay for a city
Yes, us and them - we're chalk and cheese
Can someone spare a fiver - please!
