Watching Iverson whine and cry about getting the bronze medal really made my day. I never liked the idea of professional players in the Olympics so this was icing on the cake for me.

lets look at basketball in the olympics for a moment. there are lots of NBA players that play for other countries. what difference does it make? a country puts its best althletes up for the spot right? the US deserved to lose because we sent a scrub team to Athens this year. the NBA is way too much about money. since athens is free, they dont want to risk injury. i think the medal story would be alot different if we had sent players like garnett, shaq, mcgrady, francis(i could go on) instead of players like lamar odom or rookies like anthony and james. i am glad they got bronze and not gold. they didnt deserve it.

As far as I'm concerned, they didn't even deserve the bronze. What did you expect from a bunch of overpaid,over-priviledged,prima-donna cry babies? The tone was set at the opening ceremonies. Every other US athelete who marched had their baseball caps on straight, brim to the front. Not the basketballers, all of them slouching along with their caps to the side or backwards. They didn't make any friends with the thug life attitude and posturing. Talk about the Ugly American?

That's true. Some of those teams had one or maybe two NBA players which is also wrong. We had a complete team of NBA players half of which were a bunch of thugs and problem children.

Well then the US has a lot to worry about because they aren't dominant like before. I'm sure if the NBA had sent O'neal,Kidd, Kobe and a few others they would have won. Then again I don't think I would risk injury to play in the Olympics for a medal.

That kinda makes them unprofessional...

If they play, and then bitch and whine about getting a bronze medal, at Olympic level, then they have something wrong...

Typical example of wrong ideals in life .... It's all about money money money

I'd be proud to play for my country (for free) Shame I suck at almost anything, lol

Professionals have every right to be in the Olymipics, just like everyone else. They are the best at what they do out of everyone in there country. It would be less exciting to watch college players play then the pros.

Put the Pistons team in there and they would have wiped the floor with the other countries. Put Iverson in there and he's thinking about his next Nike contract...

Too bad Shaq didn't play.

You're a thug because you wear your hat sideways or backwards? I don't agree with that....that's ure for some. I do, however, agree with the fact that we pulled on out winning the bronze, because Shaq, Garnett, McGrady, and almost the rest of the players invited refused because they didn't get paid, so you have to respect the fact that this Olympic team spent most of their summer in Greece, away from family and home, for little or no pay.
