The US Olympic men's basketball team suffered an embarassing defeat at the hands of Italy tonight.

Now, what is the most disturbing element of this scenario?:

1) That the US Olympic men's basketball team (which is virtually synonymous with the NBA all-star team) is unmotivated and obviously doesn't want to be there.

or

2) That the US has made a mockery of the Olympics by using the NBA all-star team to represent them in the first place.


The answer is (2), in case you didn't know. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that professional athletes are being used in the Olympics these days. It makes a complete mockery of the games to have the NBA all-star team go up against opponents like team Angola. Or even team Italy. In every event that the US uses professional athletes, I will actively root against team USA and hope for their complete humiliation, such as the one they received tonight.

And you can save your BS about how other countries have state supported athletes, I'm not interested.

They should be sending 'Street Bawlers' rather than men who make millions already.

They don't play for a medal!? These people have it made, they don't have pride like a guy who just plays! Good post!

Today, the radio tells me they got whipped about 94-78 or something???? Next they tell me USA will get Gold.... Just Cuz.

The U.S.team lucked out with a last second 3 pointer against Germany,who didn't even qualify for the Olympics. Then they show a picture of these over paid prima donnas rolling around on the ground,like they won the gold-WHICH THEY WILL NOT. Brazil,Lithuania,or maybe Italy(again)will see to that.
