Does anyone have problems with opponents claiming to be on holiday to disrupt particular games whilst continuing to move on others ? I have never seen this before but now I have one particular opponent using this tactic to delay losing whilst continuing to make moves in other games. Currently he/she is on their 4th 'holiday' in 3 months yet manages to make moves in all their other games !
@polarbear saidThe time we spend on a move in a game varies according to the position. It's not surprising that more time might be taken in a game where we are against the ropes. If a player wishes to go on holiday and yet move on boards where the positions are less complicated, that's their decision. Holidays are limited after all.

@polarbear said..."all" other games might be a hyperbole. Look up the number of games and see that they play probably too many games to manage. They move now and then in all of the games I paly against them, those have positions of varying compliacation and advantage.

@polarbear
Your opponent is employing the time-honored tactic of hoping you choke on a turkey bone before his timebank and holidays run out. Chew carefully.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidThis is a very generous interpretation on your part, which probably just means you are a nicer person than me, but check out my current 3 day ladder game. I am up by a Queen and a couple of pawns, but this losing position has been going on for at least a couple of months delaying my attempt to climb the ladder before my subscription runs out. The player was always waiting to within an hour of a time out ever since losing their Queen (not before) and more recently started using the vacation setting. At least the third time I have encountered this stuff.

@relentless-red saidYour opponent moved in another game today, how irritating. I might be a little odd in this, but I enjoy playing people who employ these rather bitter tactics and see the behaviour as a weakness of personal character and an indicator that my win will inflict more pain upon them, so I just relentlessly grind them down by moving immediately the game becomes available.

@divegeester saidI get that so I don't see it as odd. I also delight in seeing how many of my remaining moves can be conditional and instant. I think my record was fourteen conditional moves used in a recent game. I think it is the ladder thing that particularly annoys me about this one. I guess people have the right to enjoy RHP according to whatever lights their candle (within the TOS).

@cheesemaster saidSo Mr. Cheesey, what was your original user name or are you too embarrassed to tell us? π I believe I have an idea, you sure sound like him.
Annoying? Yes.
Against the rules? No.
I think the vacation days replenish at the end of the year so you might have to deal with this for a lot longer π
