Somehow I prefer a real game with a true win (for either of us, supposing we both make it to the final round) over a win by time-out (wether automated or not), if you catch my drift

I think it's only fair on the other players who had the courtesy NOT to time you out.

I resigned all my games (even games that I was in a definite winning position) and started new ones too.
This user used his time unwisely, and tried to blame other users. Once he figured out he screwed up, he had a tantrum.
When he resigned all his games, his rating went down for each game, so he didn't do anyone any ratings favors. If anything, he made a bigger mess of the whole thing. It's all on Yardman.

I was rated around 1560 before vacation and 1120 when I came back.
I was in a good position in a few games and not so good in others, but I thought it would be unfair to continue playing against 1400 - 1600 rated players and perhaps beating some thereby decimating their rating because I forgot about the tournament auto timeout.
That's why I resigned.
I don't see how that aggravated the situation.

If you had just continued to win and lose the games you had left the ratings would have been in a lot more order than quitting them all.
Yardman may be gone from the site, why? It was a tantrum, and nothing else. Where is the logic in blaming others for something they have no control over, and throwing a bigger fit and 'taking your ball home'?
How do you not see that as a tantrum? I don't care if he left the site or comes back, but why do you think he did it? I think he threw a fit.

To clear up the issue about Yardman, I was just curious to know if he did anything other than post on these forums to vent his frustration (for example, private PM's etc). He has no right to be upset with people who claimed auto time-outs. I'm not disputing the fact that he threw a tantrum, I just wanted to know the extent of it.

I didn't get any PM's, not sure if he used site feedback or what. With luck he'll straighten it all out and come back. I tried to leave the site once... Ha! I didn't even make it to the base of the fence!
