On the horizontal menu bar, click on My Home and then on My Vacation Settings. Click on the On Vacation checkbox and then click Update... This will tell all your opponents that you are on vacation.
YOu might want to mention it to them in the in-game message as well to avoid any difficulties. People will probably be less likely to time you out if you specifically mention that you will gone until a given return date. Unless they're jerks.
