AVG Free is quite a good one, and it's free 😀

AVG is not aware of your machine being connected all the time to the web. In fact, AVG is only active while making a system scan, receiving emails, or downloading something. It also becomes active while u start a program.
If you are confident on the sanity of the game (or pgms) you are running, you can deactivate it.
Anyway, run AVG scan periodically.
My 2 cents.

Edit: remember to reactivate it when you exit the game/pgm.

Is that the one to click to turn it off temporarily? It brings up a screen that says you won't be able to manage components. Does that mean its turned off? It doesn't say unambiguously it goes off.
yep that'll do the trick
