* "Now I lay me down to sleep" is a classic children's prayer from

the 18th century. Version printed in The New England Primer goes:

"Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep;
Should I die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take."

...........

'Oh, yes, now I sit me down to post
and pray the Lord my mind to tweak.
Should I flinch, fail or turn to toast
I pray my noble failures are unique.'

The time has come, yes for me,
To say goodbye 'cause I must flee,
My "work" does call, well shout you see,
"Get back at it, or out you'll be.

Then spake King Arthur to Sir Bedivere, "The sequel of today unsolders all the goodliest fellowship of famous men whereof this world holds record. Such a sleep they sleep, the men I loved, I think that we shall nevermore at any future time delight ourselves with talk of knightly deeds, walking about the gardens and the halls of Camelot as in days that were. I perish by this people which I made, though Merlin sware that I should come again to rule once more, but let what will be, be. I am so deeply smitten through the helm, that without help I cannot last 'til dawn.

It doth please me right fine, and here's to kindred spirits, like scotch and bourbon. 🙂

Bourbon neat (in a snifter by the fireside in winter time) if you please.

I always preferred a generous double nip, a couple of plethoras if ice, and a copious splash of dry gingerale. Ambrosia!

from Paul Coelho's book, Warrior of the Light...

A Warrior is as wise as a serpent and as innocent as a dove.

When people gather to talk, he does not judge the behavior of others; he knows that evil uses an invisible net to spread its darkness. This net catches any snippet of information floating in the air and transforms it into the intrigue and envy that infest the human soul.

Thus, everything that is said about someone reaches the ears of the enemies of that person, augmented by the dark weight of poison and malice.

For this reason, when the Warrior speaks of his brother's opinions, he imagines that his brother is there present, listening to what he is saying.

Thoughtful comments, Rookie. All relationships in life stand or fall, succeed or fail, fizzle out or become durable and lasting as a direct result of the virtue, integrity, character, capacity for life and love of the parties involved. We, however, do not hold up our light. We reflect His. Mathew 6:22,23 "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!"

Now I lay me down to rest,
a pile of books upon my desk.
If I die before I wake,
that's one last test I'll have to take.

but hey those things just happen.
I was just standing there,

So got me a rope,
let's go kick a goat,
and then I threw him on the barbecue..."

Flashed all their sabres bare,
Flashed as they turned in air,
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army while
All the world wondered,
Plunged in the battery smoke,
Right though the line they broke,
Cossack and Russian reeled from the sabre stroke
Shattered and sundered,
Then they rode back, but not,
Not the six hundred.

Just one hell of a poem. I remember as a small child, my elder brother had to learn it for school, and I can still hear him crying because he couldn't memorise it all. In my late forties I found it in an old book of verse, and I memorised it for him so he would have to weep no more in my memory.

It is a great poem. There were not many that I had to memorize for school way back in the day that have stuck with me, basically only bits and fragments.

Well except this one:

"Nature's first green is gold,
her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leafs a flower,
but only so an hour.

So leaf subsides to leaf,
as Eden sank to grief.
So dawn goes down to day,
nothing gold can stay".

Frost

Have no clue why I can rip that one off from memory when my favorite poem him by him, "The Road Not Taken", I can't.
