Weather reports ~ are they worth it?

Weather reports ~ are they worth it?

General

I rely upon my area weather app lots more than the TV forecast. I’ll always do a load of washing to fit in with weather suitable for line drying, I’ll decide if I need warmer layers or water proofs for my dog walk and which route is best suited to possible rain, and also plan the best days to collect any fallen wood so I’m not slipping on saturated ground or handling wet, heavier logs.

That never works with washing! It can be sunny and then start pi$$ing down 5 mins later 😖

I just read 2 days ago about AI having fabulous results with 10 day forecasting.

I think it was a google thing, or amazon. not sure

I look at the actual satellite image, then do an interactive of how the wind is blowing to see what clouds coming my way. Its better than taking these general forecasts that apply to millions of people.

Q: Are they worth it?

A: Just barely. I live in an area of the US with weather much like England, and weather reports are no different here. On rare occasion however, some extreme weather such as high winds or a cold front (or both) is approaching. It's at these times; weather reports are worth it.

So you are not located in “New” England…maybe further south or North West.🤔

It's not actually 50% chance of rain, it's 50% of the area of the town/city will get rain. Still doesn't mean much. It's impossible to exactly predict the weather of somewhere like UK/Ireland but I still look.
