Songs you really like even though you know less than half the words.

Plus points for embarrassing bonus information if you confess to a lyric that you always heard in your head which turned out to be completely wrong.

Desmond Dekker - The Israelites

Love the song. Bonus embarrassing lyric "Get up in the morning slaving for breakfast" 😳😳

Would fix it so the intonation
Would not offend your ear

I think that's most people nowadays, the average listener of contemporary music can't receive anything more than the chorus to most of their favorite songs.

Not sure I totally buy that cos my daughters are big on singing along to what they are listening to. No idea if they are getting the lyrics right though. 😁

If one doesn't know the melody can still hum along... if it's close.

Kashmir - Led Zeppelin

I was convinced there was a lyric something like 'something my love, the storm that leaves no trace, like thoughts within a dream'. Thought the last bit was a really cool metaphor and then learned it wasn't even in the song. 😳😳😳

'I've Never Been to Me' by Charlene.

For years I thought it contained a swear word and would sing it enthusiastically. Apparently, I misheard the F word:

"And it's that man you fought with this morning, The same one you are gonna make love to tonight."
