a historical novel playing during the 30 years war.

New sci fi author, did a lot of fantasy: Adrian Tchaikovsky, 'Children of Time' set thousands of years from now post high high tech empire ended by warfare and few humans left. Gripping story.

Rereading Connie Willis: Doomsday Book.
I enjoy reading Willis each time. And rereading is nearly as good (only nearly since I know some of the surprises already 😉
